I’ve always been interested in 3D design so I created this 3D house environment from scratch using Blender 3D software and the Unity 3D engine. I modeled the entire home including all walls, trim, floors, ceilings, stairs, cabinets, books shelves and doorways. I applied room lighting and created many of the individual objects used in the rooms as props. I also created shader materials, UV mapped and textured all the objects. Once the model was completed I imported all the assets into Unity 3D Engine, created baked light maps for real-time interactivity. The finished model can be explored in real-time at 1:1 room scale in the Unity Virtual Reality Environment using a VR headset such as Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.
This is a small video I created in Adobe Premiere and Adobe Audition to showcase the model from various camera angles.
To build the 3D model I first had to create a 2D floor plan of a home in illustrator to get a sense of measurements and composition. To do this I researched home designs and layouts and came up with the above floor plan. Next, I did extensive research on building materials used in homes, thicknesses of walls, measurements of floor materials and heights of ceilings that are used in a real physical home. This gave me a good starting point to begin modeling at 1:1 true scale in blender.

Texture mapping and materials: Once the base model was finished in blender. All 3D model objects were UV unwrapped and textured. I created all the materials with Albedo, Roughness, Metallic, Normal maps used to texture and paint the walls, floors and objects in the scene.
